Nextgen – Food and Wine festival Main Stage

I quite often freelance for large companies as an AV technician or audio engineer and recently I had the pleasure of contracting to Nextgen out of Melbourne as an AV technician.

It was a large set up with Tristan Loring, the Operations manager of Nextgen, driving a 16-tonne truck loaded to the roof with equipment from Melbourne – a three day journey spent dodging the fires that were wreaking havoc at the time.

Netxtgen supplied stage, an HK Audio Contour line array, assorted video drive and lighting and a large P3.8 LED screen for the main stage, featuring Manu Feidel from My Kitchen Rules and the hilarious Miguel Maestre. With a five man crew (one guy cancelled and I was called by Tristan to help at at the lest minute the night before) it was a hard day’s physical work, but enjoyable nonetheless. The Nextgen guys are a great crew and I was lucky enough to work with South African filmmaker Tim van Vuuren, who was hired as a camera operator, but came and did the hard yards with the crew in building the show.

A big thanks to Tristan, Liam and Jarod of Nextgen.
